Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Leh

Altitude: 11,500 ft

Arrive in Leh and take the day to acclimatize to the high altitude. Explore the local market, visit Shanti Stupa and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

Overnight Stay: Leh

Day 2 – Leh to Lamayuru to Kargil

Distance: Approx. 220 km

Overnight Stay: Kargil

Day 3 – Kargil to Rangdum

Distance: Approx. 130 km

Drive through the breathtaking Suru Valley, one of the most scenic regions in Ladakh. Witness spectacular views of the Nun-Kun mountain range and visit the picturesque Rangdum Monastery.

Overnight Stay: Rangdum

Day 4 – Rangdum to Pensi La to Padum (Karsha)

Distance: Approx. 110 km

Arrive in Padum and settle into your accommodation in Karsha, the cultural heart of Zanskar.

Day 5 – Excursion to Phuktal Monastery

Drive + Trek

Drive towards the trailhead and trek to the spectacular Phuktal Monastery, dramatically built into a cliffside cave overlooking the Lungnak River.

Spend time exploring the monastery, interacting with monks and soaking in the spiritual atmosphere before returning to Padum.

Overnight Stay: Karsha / Padum

Day 6 – Padum to Gonbo Rangjon

Distance: Approx. 70 km

Travel through remote villages and rugged mountain landscapes to reach Gonbo Rangjon, one of the most iconic mountains in the Himalayas.

Day 7 – Gonbo Rangjon to Kargil

Distance: Approx. 250 km

Wake up early for sunrise at Gonbo Rangjon before beginning the return journey. Cross Pensi La once again and enjoy additional viewpoints of the Drang Drung Glacier and Zanskar Valley.

Overnight Stay: Kargil

Day 8 – Kargil to Leh

Distance: Approx. 220 km

Drive back to Leh with optional stops at Lamayuru or Alchi Monastery. Arrive in Leh by evening.
